We spent a lovely day hiking the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro with a group of other volunteers and made a stop at this beautiful waterfall, referred to as Nambe Waterfall locally, which means ‘first-born’ as it is the lowest lying waterfall on Mount Kilimanjaro.
The water was very cold and you could “feel” the freshness in the air. If you plan a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro, we highly recommend you enjoy this hike and try a banana from one of the many banana trees along the way.
Side note from Nicole: I highly recommend you do not wear a skirt and flip flops hiking the village of Materuni. The slops have a significant drop-off and the mud gets very slippery after it rains. 🙂
