Carney Island – The perfect place for some quality time with your family: Enjoy the scent of orange blossoms from Florida groves, find some shade under large oak hammocks on scenic nature trails, and take in the breathtaking views of Lake Weir.
There are also two nice playground areas for families with kids. Carney Island Conservation Area is a peninsula spanning more than 700 acres in Lake Weir and is naturally air-conditioned and home to a lot of wildlife (including resident deer, turkeys, and bald eagles) that you can admire in its natural beauty when you hike one of the three loop trails in the park.
